1687

In 1687, the island of Tobago, which was then a colony of the Duke of Courland, was invaded by the British navy triggering an exodus of Letts from Tobago to Boston. I am trying to contact the new Lettish museum in Tobago to find out of there is a record of the names of those who left to see of I can find records of them in Boston.

1638

In 1638, two ships, the Fogel Grip and the Kalmar Nyckel left Stockholm to settle New Sweden. It has been suggested that 4 men from Swedish Latvia were on one of those ships. Most likely the Kalmar Nyckel. I am searching for the ship's manifest, in hopes of finding the names of the Lettlanders or at least confirmation that there were indeed Latvians on that ship. Their is a museum in Wilmington, DE, and a reconstructed Fogel Grip ship.
